Recording and Reporting
We steadfastly uphold a culture steeped in transparency and accountability, particularly when it comes to recording and reporting incidents, especially those involving negative behaviors and physical interventions. Our unwavering commitment to the well-being of Children and Young people is deeply ingrained in the core of our organisation. This commitment is not merely a statement but is demonstrated through the rigorous and meticulous processes we have established to ensure their safety and welfare.
Record Keeping:
Every incident, whether related to negative behaviors or requiring physical intervention, is meticulously documented. Our records are thorough, ensuring that all pertinent details are captured accurately.
Cross-Referencing:
We cross-reference these incident records, enabling us to establish connections and patterns that contribute to a deeper understanding of each child or young person's needs and challenges.
Communication with Child's Network:
Our commitment to transparency extends to keeping the child's network informed. Incident reports are shared with the relevant individuals and agencies.
Documentation on Individual Files:
Each incident report finds its place on the child or young person's individual file, creating a comprehensive record of their experiences and progress.
Continuous Monitoring:
To ensure that our processes remain effective, our manager and Regulation 44 inspector actively monitor all incident recordings. This oversight guarantees that we maintain the highest standards of care and safety.
Regulation Reporting:
As part of our commitment to regulatory compliance, all incident recordings are included in the Regulation 45 report, demonstrating our adherence to the highest standards in residential care.
Arrangements made for the protection of children and to counter bullying:
We are dedicated to building a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all children and young people under our care. To uphold this commitment:
Stringent Screening: Our staff undergo thorough enhanced DBS checks before joining our team. They are also familiarised with our robust Safeguarding policy during their induction.
Respectful Atmosphere: We strive to create a home-from-home atmosphere, emphasizing values such as choice, privacy, dignity, diversity, independence, rights, and personal fulfillment.
Zero Tolerance to Bullying: Bullying is unequivocally prohibited in our facilities. Our staff receive training to identify early signs of bullying, and every case is handled with individualised care, following our anti-bullying policy.
Internet Safety: We recognise the risks associated with internet usage for young people. To protect them, we have an E-Safety Policy for staff, ensuring safe internet usage for children and young people. Parental controls, managed remotely, restrict internet access to approved content.
Proactive Safeguarding: Safeguarding concerns are a top priority and are extensively discussed in supervision, team meetings, and management meetings. We seek guidance from relevant professionals to ensure the safety and well-being of our residents.
Ongoing Training: Our commitment to safeguarding is reinforced through continuous training. Staff receive comprehensive safeguarding training as part of their induction and participate in regular refresher courses.
Ensuring Safety and Responding to Missing Incidents
Safety is paramount at Hamann Care, where we place a strong emphasis on providing a secure environment for every child and young person under our care. We assign dedicated support workers to oversee their well-being, and in the rare event of a young person going missing, while with us, our staff follows stringent procedures, promptly alerting the relevant authorities. Accessible policies, such as our ‘Running Away or Missing from Home or Care Policy,’ guide our actions. We carefully monitor departures, report any unauthorised absences swiftly, and conduct post-missing interviews to discuss the associated risks. In cases of missing individuals, we adhere to rigorous Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) and Child Criminal Exploitation (CCE) protocols and are actively building collaborative relationships with law enforcement to enhance our ability to address potential issues effectively.
Anti-discrimination and Children’s Rights
Anti-Discrimination: At Hamann Care, we are unwavering in our commitment to anti-discrimination and anti-oppressive values. We stand against any form of discrimination based on factors such as race, culture, religion, beliefs, physical or mental capabilities, political persuasion, or sexual orientation. Our aim is to educate, challenge, and inform when necessary, fostering a sense of equality, fairness, and understanding among the children and young people we serve.
Children’s Rights: We recognise and uphold the basic human rights of every child and young person. Our staff ensures that each individual is acknowledged, appreciated, and respected without distinction of any kind. We do not judge a young person based on their circumstances, backgrounds, or lifestyles, emphasizing their right to equality and opportunity.
Dignity and Respect: The individuality and unique qualities of Children and Young People are central to our approach. We accept and appreciate them as they are, treating them with dignity and respect at all times.
Expression of Feelings: We understand that Children and Young People need to express their needs and feelings. We encourage them to do so positively, creating an environment where their expressions are not condemned, even if they appear negative. Our focus is on helping them express themselves in ways that do not threaten others but bring about self-gratification and fulfillment.
Non-Judgmental Attitude: While assessments are a part of child care, they do not include blame, guilt, or judgment about the child themselves. Any assessment focuses on the child’s behavior and the support needed.
Empowerment: We are committed to providing opportunities for Children and Young People to think and act independently, empowering them to do things for themselves while ensuring their safety.
Confidentiality: We prioritise the confidentiality of personal information, respecting the young person’s need for privacy.
Policy and Approach: We have well-defined policies and approaches in relation to anti-discriminatory practice and Children’s Rights, working within the framework of the Equality Act 2010, which protects individuals from discrimination in various contexts.
